HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 10171995 - C25 C Board of Supervisors Of Contra Costa County, State of California IN RECOGNITION OF THE 50TH ANNNERSARY OF ] THE FOUNDING OF THE UNITED NATIONS AND ] RESOLUTION N0. 95/488 DECLARING OCTOBER, 1995 UNffED NATIONS ] MONTH IN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY ] WHEREAS,the United Nations, since its founding in 1945, has a vital force in resolving international conflicts and major world problems, and has achieved many successes in the areas of.world trade, health, arms control, protection of children and the environment, and many other global issues; and WHEREAS, it is the fiftieth anniversary of the United Nations and many citizens attended ceremonies at the founding of the United Nations in San Francisco in 1945, and since then have demonstrated their dedication to the principles of the United Nations Charter by holding an annual Flag Raising Ceremony. WHEREAS, it is altogether fitting and significant that leaders of Contra Costa County call upon its citizens to recognize the fiftieth anniversary of the United Nations to increase appreciation and understanding of its importance. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does hereby proclaim OCTOBER, 1995 AS UNITED NATIONS MONTH IN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY AND URGE ITS RECOGNMON AND SUPPORT BY ALL CITIZENS. PASSED AND ADOPTED by unanimous vote of those Supervisors present on October 17, 1995. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of an action taken and entered on the minutes of said Board of Supervisors. INTRODUCED BY.
