as QUENTIN ALEXANDER DAY in Contra ) RESOLUTION NO. 951437
Costa County in Honor of His Retirement )
WHEREAS,for 22 years of dedicated leadership to the Mt. Diablo Silverado Council, Boy Scouts
of America, Quentin Alexander is being honored on October 6, 1995, by friends and scouters;
and
WHEREAS, in the years that Quentin has served as Council Scout Executive, the Council has
grown in the number of youth active in the program to over 18,000, the camps have been greatly
improved, and a camp maintenance endowment fund has been established for keeping the camps
in good operating order; and
WHEREAS, the Council Endowment Fund, which provides program services, has grown to more
than $2 million, and an additional $2 million in future bequests have been identifled; and
WHEREAS, along with the merger of the Mt. Diablo and Silverado Councils, Quentin's expertise
has led to the completion of the new Scout Service Center, which will provide expanding services
to all youth and leaders of the Council for the next 50 years and more; and
WHEREAS, dedicated volunteers will remember how Quentin knew all their names and took a
genuine interest in their ideas and concerns, and other professionals in the nonprofit community
will remember the expert counsel he provided on numerous issues over the years; and
WHEREAS, Quentin is know for saying, "What's good for the kids is best for Scouting, "and his
compassion and dedication to the Boy Scouts of America will long be remembered.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors declares October 6,
1995, as QUENTIN ALEXANDER DAY in honor of his retirement from the Mt. Diablo
Silverado Council, Boy Scouts of America.
PASSED AND ADOPTED ON October 3, 1995, by a unanimous vote of the Board members
present.
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of an order entered on the Minutes
of said Board of Supervisors on the aforesaid date.
