DEPARTURE FROM THE ] WALNUT CREEK CITY COUNCIL ] WHEREAS, Evelyn Munn was elected to the City Council in November 1985 and re-elected in November 1989. Her term expired in November 1994. She has served as Mayor of Walnut Creek twice, in 1988-89 and in 1991-92. WHEREAS, Evelyn Munn a 35-year resident of Walnut Creek, was formerly a director of Citizens for a Better Walnut Creek and the Walnut Creek Homeowners Council, and a founding member of Citizens for a Better Contra Costa and 10,000 Friends of Walnut Creek. WHEREAS, Evelyn Munn has also served on three regional transportation committees — Chair, 1992, Contra Costa Transportation Authority,the Planning and Governmental Affairs Committee,and TRANSPAC —as well as three Walnut Creek transportation committees, including the 1-680/24 Watchdog Committee. She has also been active in the Downtown Enhancement Program, Open Space Committee, and Community Against Substance Abuse (CASA). She was responsible for the City's sponsorship of the Walnut Creek Concert Band, and is a supporter of the Regional Center for the Arts. WHEREAS, Evelyn Munn's other community affiliations have included Walnut Creek Homeowners Council, the Walnut Creek Historical Society, and the Walnut Creek Civic Arts. WHEREAS, Evelyn Munn is also a lector at St. Mary's Church in Walnut Creek. During-her first term as mayor in 1988-89, Evelyn chaired an Ecumenical Breakfast and the Walnut Creek Diamond Jubilee Committee to organize a celebration of the City's 75th anniversary of incorporation in October 1989. She also accepted the U.S. Congress of Mayor's Most Livable City Award for Walnut Creek's commitment to the arts. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,that this Board of Supervisors, County of Contra Costa, State of California, does hereby thank Evelyn Munn and congratulate her for a job well done, and wish her a-fond farewell upon her departure from the Walnut Creek City Council. PASSED AND ADOPTED ON January 31, 1995 by a unanimous vote of the Board members present. HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of an order entered on the minutes of the Board of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
