RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve and authorize the Health Services Director or his designee (Frank Puglisi) to execute on behalf of the County, Unpaid Student Training Agreement #26-209-1 with the University of the Pacific-- Department of Physical Therapy, for the period from July 1, 1994 through June 30, 1997, for provision of clinical experience for physical therapy students. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND: On March 12, 1991, the Board of Supervisors approved Unpaid Student Training Agreement #26-209 with the University of the Pacific-- Department of Physical Therapy to provide the University's students with field education in physical therapy at Merrithew Memorial Hospital and Clinics. Supervised field work experience is considered to be an integral part of both educational and professional preparation. As a teaching hospital, Merrithew can provide the requisite field education, while at the same time, taking advantage of the students' services to patients. This Agreement is prepared in the standard format approved by County Counsel's Office and has been executed by the University.
