Dear Mr. DeSaulnier;
It is with deep regret that I will have to withdraw from my appointment as Mental
Health Representative to the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Child Abuse Issues effective
immediately. The reason for my resignation is that the meeting times for the Task
Force seriously conflict with my primary hours of practice.
When I went to the interview for the Task Force, I believe you asked if the candidates
were willing to make the time commitment necessary to complete the Task Force
mandate in the next six months. I took that what you asked to heart and believed I
would be able to fulfill the commitment. However, I mistakenly pictured meetings
occurring earlier in the day when I have significantly more flexibility in my schedule.
This is obviously not possible for the other members of the Task Force who find their
obligations in conflict with earlier meetings.
I apologize for the inconvenience my decision may cause. I have been discussing these
concerns with Paul Crissey who is aware of my decision. I waited to learn if the
committee could change to a more varied or earlier time frame which was decided last
meeting. I hope that by withdrawing early enough in the process an alternative
applicant may fulfill my appointment.
I will look forward to participating in the public hearings of the Task Force and to the
recommendations of the panel.
Sincerely,
le amer-Turner, Psy.D.
