SUBJECT: Insurance Proceeds for Fire Recovery Costs SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATIONS: 1. Authorize.$9,000,000 in revenues from the insurance proceeds and Property Insurance Trust Fund. 2. Appropriate $9,000,000 in revenues to fund the repairs and clean-up at court locations damaged by fires on August 28, 1995 and September 14, 1995 at 640 Ygnacio Valley Road, Walnut Creek; 1950 Parkside Drive, Concord; 2970 Willow Pass Road, Concord and 725 Court Street, Martinez., FINANCIAL IMPACTS: The insurance coverage for County property covers replacement cost for damages caused by the court fires. A deductible of $50,000 per occurrence applies to each loss and is covered by a Property Insurance Trust Fund for $40,000 as part of the County's self-insurance program. The current action recognizes the revenue from the insurance and appropriates the revenue and Trust Fund contribution to the costs of the fire recovery at the various damaged locations. Additional revenues will be received from insurance proceeds as the projects are completed. BACKGROUND: The insurance companies have released allocations of funds to cover the costs of the fire recovery at the various damaged locations in sufficient amounts to cover the costs incurred by the County. The funds are appropriated to capital accounts and drawn down as invoices are received and approved for payment.
