S.Department of Housing and Urban Development,dated October 3, 1995,formally determining that the Housing Authority of the County of Contra Costa is currently operating its federally assisted housing programs and activities in compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None at this time. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND The Housing Authority of the County of Contra Costa and the U. S.Department of Housing and Urban Development(HUD)had a Voluntary Compliance Agreement in effect from September 22, 1992 to September 22, 1994. During that period.of time,HUD monitored the federally assisted low-income public housing and Section 8 housing programs administered by the Housing Authority of the County of Contra Costa and has made a formal determination that the Housing Authority is currently operating its federally assisted housing programs and activities in compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Additionally,Harold Redic,Director of Program Operations and the Compliance Center,Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity,HUD,San Francisco,has congratulated the Housing Authority for having successfully fulfilled the Voluntary Compliance Agreement requirements and for improving the quality of life for tenants at the Las Deltas development(CAO 11006,CAO 11009A and CAO 11009B,North Richmond). •n � yy� Ifr. Box 2759 Martinez, CA 94553 Dear Ms. Voorhies: SUBJECT: Letter of Determination Title VI Compliance Review Housing Authority of the County of Contra Costa HUD Case No. : 09-87-02-009-340 The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (the Department) has completed its monitoring of a Voluntary Compliance Agreement (VCA) of the federally assisted low- income public housing (LIPH) and Section 8 housing programs administered by the Housing Authority of the County of Contra Costa (the Recipient) . The VCA was effective from September 22 , 1992 to September 22, 1994 . The Department has determined that the actions of the Recipient during the effective period of the VCA have resolved the preliminary finding of noncompliance resulting from the Title VI compliance review. Accordingly, pursuant to 24 CFR 1.7 (d) , the Department hereby makes a formal determination that the Housing Authority is currently operating its federally assisted housing programs and activities in compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 . Under the Freedom of Information Act, the Department may be -required to release this document and related correspondence and records upon request. In the event that the Department receives such a request, it will protect, -to the extent provided by law, personal information that, if released, would constitute an unwarranted invasion of privacy. ` y In closing, I wish to congratulate you and your staff for having successfully fulfilled the VCA requirements and improving the quality of life for tenants at the Las Deltas development. I also wish you continued success in your endeavor of making Las Deltas more marketable through your creative/innovative ideas and solutions.
