SUBJECT: RESULTS OF SEPTEMBER 7, 1994 CO-ORDINATING COUNCIL
MEETING
Please recall the Contra Costa Solid Waste Authority has been
dissolved in favor of a countywide solid waste co-ordinating
council. This action was the result of a year long joint work
effort between the Contra Costa Solid Waste Authority and Contra
Costa County which culminated in the publication of the joint
report "Roles and Responsibilities for Solid Waste Management"
dated March 1994 .
The Contra Costa Countywide Solid Waste Co-ordinating Council held
its first meeting on September 7, 1994 in Walnut Creek.
The attached "Results of the First Meeting of the Contra Costa
Countywide Solid Waste Co-ordinating Council" is provided for your
information. The attached report identifies those present at the
meeting and summarizes the consensus of those present at the
meeting.

RESULTS OF
FIRST MEETING OF THE
CONTRA COSTA COUNTYWEDE SOLID WASTE
CO-ORDINATING COUNCIL
The first meeting of the Contra Costa Countywide Solid Waste
Co-ordinating Council was convened at 4 :435 p.m. by Pinole City
Councilmember Gretchen Mariotti on September 7 , 1994 at Park Place
in Walnut Creek. The Council was convened by Councilmember
Mariotti as her last act as Chair of the Contra Costa Solid Waste
Authority.
Those in attendance at the meeting were as follows:

The following summarizes the consensus of those present at the
meeting:
1. The purpose of the Council is to provide an organized,
voluntary and regularly scheduled forum for the exchange of
information among elected officials, governmental agency
staff, and private industry regarding solid waste matters in
Contra Costa County.
2 . Meetings of the Council will be quarterly and held under the
sponsorship of organizations. Sponsoring organizations will
be responsible for:
(a) Organizing the program and arranging for presenters,
(b) Arranging for a meeting location, and
(c) Providing a host to preside at the meeting.
3 . Attendance at meetings will vary depending upon the level of
interest in the subject matter. Topics presented should, as
possible, of timely interest or present information on
activities of organizations undertaken to address solid waste
issues.

4 . Meetings should be informal to facilitate the exchange of
information and, insofar as possible, be hold on the second
Wednesday in January, April, July and October beginning at
4 : 30 p.m. .
5 . The meeting schedule for calendar year 1995 will be as
follows:

6. Gretchen Mario tti will host the January 1995 meeting and Sue
Rainey will make meeting arrangements. Sue Rainey will host
the 4/12/9.5 meeting. Barbara Washburn will host the 7/12/95
meeting.
