M.R. 1 ADJOURNED the October 4, 1994 Board of Supervisors meeting
to October 7, 1994, 9 A.M. , in the Board Chambers, 651
Pine Street, Room 107, Martinez, California.
M.R.2 ADJOURNED to October 8, 1994, 8 A.M. , at Pacific States
Aviation, Buchanan Field Airport, to attend the ceremonies
for the Contra Costa County-Byron Airport.

THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA

The Board met at 1 : 00 p.m. with members of the Expanded Youth
Services Board at; the Training Institute, Golden Gate Room, 500
Court Street, Martinez .
Each person present, staff and committee members, introduced
themselves and the organization they represent.
Florence McCaulley, Chair, welcomed the Board members and
thanked them for their emphasis on children and families .
Suzanne Strisower of the Mental Health Commission commented
that it is nice to have a Board that is approachable, and thanked
the Board for attending this meeting.
Several other Committee members expressed their appreciation
to the Board of Supervisors for being available and for their
support ,of children' s issues .
Board member's individually responded to the comments of the
Committee membersiand expressed their appreciation for the support
given to children" and families .
Supervisor Powers commented that although he was leaving the
Board in January, ' he would continue to work for families and
children through the Contra Costa Foundation in attempting to get
major corporations within Contra Costa County to help finance
programs for children.
Sara Hoffman',, was complimented for her work in preparing the
grant application! to the State, and for her commitment to

children' s issues .
An update was given with regard to the status of the new
Juvenile Hall .
Perfecto Villarreal, Social Services, announced that Dana
Fabella, from Sonoma County, has accepted the position of
Assistant Welfare" Director.
The Board recessed this meeting at 1 : 30 to meet . in Closed
Session in Room 105 of the McBrien Administration Building.
