Project No. 0662-6R4233-92, CP # 93 - 80. Specific Request(s) or Recommendations) & Background & Justification i I. RECOMMENDED ACTION: APPROVE Project, and DETERMINE that the project is a California Environmental Quality Act Class IC Categorical Exemption, and DIRECT the Public Works Director to prepare contract plans and specifications for construction. DIRECT the Director of,Community Development to file a Notice of Exemption with the County Clerk. DIRECT the Public Works Director to arrange for payment of the $25.00 handling fee to the County Clerk for filing of the Notice of Exemption. II. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: The project includes the minor modification of existing facilities at the intersection of Appian Way and Manor Drive, including the installation of a traffic signal, crosswalk, and curb ramps. It is needed to allow motorists to safely enter traffic from Manor road to Appian Way, which has a very high volume of traffic. The project has been determined to be in compliance with the General Plan and is exempt from CEQA because it consists of minor alterations of existing public facilities involving no expansion of use per Section 15301 of the CEQA Guidelines. IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Delay in approving the project will result in a delay of design and construction and may jeopardize funding.
