SPECIFY that the five additional at-large seats which were added to the Women's Advisory Committee on November 2, 1993 are to have terms of office which expire as fdllow.s : • 2 seats with terms expiring February 28, 1994 • 1 seat with a term expiring February 28, 1995 • 2 'seats with terms expiring February 28, 1996 2 . Hernandez 26 Valley Drive Pittsburg, CA 94565 BACKGROUND: On November 2, 1993, the Board of Supervisors agreed to expand the Women' s Advisory Committee to 25 members by adding five additional at-large seats . At that time terms of office for those seats were not specified. We are, therefore, recommending that the above- noted terms of office be established for these seats . In addition, the Women' s Advisory Committee has interviewed applicants for these new seats and has recommended the appointment of Phyllis Gordon and Gloria Hernandez to two of . these seats. We are pleased to concur in these recommendations . Jensen, Staff WRIECT IOC AGENDA ITEM: RECOMMENDATION FOR APPOINTMENTS To THE WOMENtS ADVISORY COMMITTEE Attached for your review are two applications submitted for appointment consideration to the Women's Advisory Committee. We have several At-Large Category vacancies and are anxious to have them filled as soon as possible. Notices of the vacancies have been sent to local newspapers, women's organizations and the Women's Advisory Committee interested party mailing list. Our Membership Review Committee conducted interviews with the applicants. The work of the committee, activities undertaken and issues targeted by the committee, and membership attendance requirements were explained to the applicants. All of the applicants are very interested in serving on the committee and have indicated they have the time available to attend meetings and participate in committee activities and events. All of the applicants are residents of Contra Costa County.
