KAY W 38 ri.-Cl t:7 C-1 e tr 4 CoUtilt- Exhibit B February 1, 1994 Chair, CCTA Chair, WCCTAC Chair, MTC Director, Caltrans District 4 State/Federal Legislative Delegation As your partner in improving transportation in Contra Costa, the Board of Supervisors wishes to cooperate with you in accelerating improvements to State Route 4 in western Contra Costa. The lack of full funding for the State Route 4 freeway gap closure in the proposed 20-year Regional Transportation Plan is difficult to accept. A recent proposal for an interim safety project in this corridor appears promising if it can be constructed soon. Representatives from the City of Hercules will be meeting with the Board's Transportation Committee to discuss their actions to accelerate improvements to State Route 4. We hope you will support directing the resources needed to develop in the coming months effective near-term and long-term solutions to the traffic problems on this stretch of State Route 4.
