SUBJECT: Ordinance Introduced
The following ordinance which amends the Ordinance Code of
Contra Costa County as indicated having been introduced, the
Board by unanimous vote of the members present waives full
reading thereof and fixes February 8 , 1994 as the time for
adoption of same :
SECTION I . SUMMARY. This ordinance amends Section 26-8 . 012
of the County Ordinance Code to increase the number of Human
Relations Commission members from 12 to a minimum of 15 and a
maximum of 20 .

Commission
In connection with the Board of Supervisors ' order of December
14, 1993, item 13, attached please find a proposed ordinance which
would amend Ordinance Code section 26-8 . 012 to increase the number of
Human Relations Commission members from 12 to no fewer than 15 but
no more than 20 .
Please arrange for placement of this matter on the Board of
Supervisors ' agenda.

ORDINANCE NO. 94-
(Human Relations Commission)
The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors Ordains as
follows (Omitting the parenthetical footnotes from the official
text of the enacted . or amended provisions of the County Ordinance
Code) :
SECTION I . SUMMARY. This ordinance amends Section 26-8.012
of the County Ordinance Code to increase the number of Human
Relations Commission members from 12 to a minimum of 15 and a
maximum of 20.
SECTION II . Section 26-8. 012 of the County Ordinance Code
is amended to read:
26-8.012 Commission, membership, composition, and
appointment.
(a) The Commission shall have no fewer than fifteen members
and no more than twenty members.
(b) The membership shall be broadly representative of the
general public, including, but not limited to members of
business, labor, religious groups, education, criminal justice,
community organizations, and city representatives characteristic
of the county's diverse population with respect to sex, sexual
orientation, ethnicity, disability, economic disadvantage or age.
(c) Commission members shall be appointed by the board of
supervisors as a whole from among individuals formally applying
for or nominated for membership, taking into consideration, among
other things, the various religious, racial, nationality, and
political groups in the county. All members of the commission
must be county residents, and at least one commission member must
reside in each supervisorial district.

SECTION III . EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance becomes
effective 30 days after passage, and within 15 days of passage
shall be published once with the names of supervisors voting for
and against it in the a newspaper
