RECOMMENDED ACTION APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE the Community Services Director or her designee, to execute Amendment 2 of the 1992 Housing Authority(HA) contract with the Community Services Department (CSD) . This proposal will extend the liquidation date of the contract from March 31, 1993 to May 1, 1993 . The Auditor-Controller refused to reimburse the HA, without Board approval, because the performance was past the ending date of the original contract. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT Funding for this Contract for the period of March 31, 1993 , through May 1, 1993 is already reflected in the Department's 1992-1993 budget it merely extends the liquidation date for the construction project. No County funds are involved with this request. III. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION A decision not to approve this contract will limit the ability of the Contra Costa County Housing Authority to encumber funds for the completion of the project. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDED ACTION This Amendment 2 modifies the Contract HS/92-06 extending the liquidation date, for work performed, in the modification and site preparation of a modular building located in the City of Brentwood. This modular is for use in the CSD Head Start program as a Head Start site. The Housing Authority could not complete the project in the time frame required by the contract and now CSD is request- ing the extension so they might recover monies spent on the modification and site preparation. The Amendment to the contract will be reviewed and approved by the County Counsel as to form prior to being signed.
