I was stunned that a .Concord Minister was scheduled to say an Invocation on the agenda of the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisor's Oct . 25th-1994 meeting. I was informed by the Clerk of the Board's office that an Invocation is scheduled the last meetings of the months . It is sad that some people confuse good . morals with religion and just as sad that they use this thinking as a crutch to instigate proselytizing. People have the right to be free from being proselytized by mini sermons (which is what prayers are) while attending government meetings and functions; therefore I AM REQUESTING THAT YOU PUT THIS INVOCATION SCHEDULING ON THE AGENDA IMMEDIATELY FOR THE PURPOSE OF RESCINDING THIS PRACTICE AND TO FORBID IT AND ALL .TYPES OFIFROS-ELYTIZING AT ANY AND. ALL GOVERINTMENT` MEETING OR FUNCTIONS IN THE COUNTY. Only through a secular government , can A. L L citizens be free. I also want to be informed of any meeting where this topic is to be discussed.
