November 8, 1994 Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors 651 Pine Street Martinez, CA 94553 Dear Chairperson: Enclosed is a copy of our September 27, 1994, Resolution the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted in support of Federal legislation for regulation of ultra-light aircraft. Under current Federal law, ultra-.light aircraft are not required to be registered. or bear identification markings of any type. Federal law could be amended to require registration of all ultra-lights and that all ultra-lights have identifying numbers conspicuously marked on the wings or underside of the aircraft. I encourage your Board to adopt a similar resolution regarding ultra-light aircraft and urge you to write your Congressional Representative to support amending Federal law. W-E-T ------------------------------ THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION WAS ADOPTED: IN RE: SUPPORTING ADOPTION OF FEDERAL LEGISLATION FOR REGULATION OF ULTRA LIGHT AIRCRAFT WHEREAS, this Board has received complaints from citizens of this County regarding the operation of ultra light aircraft in Stanislaus County; and WHEREAS, current federal laws do not require that ultra light aircraft be registered or bear any identification marking of any type; and WHEREAS, local governmental agencies do not possess the legal authority to regulate ultra light aircraft; and WHEREAS, this Board believes that registration and marking of ultra light aircraft would act to assist public entities in identifying ultra light aircraft which are not being operated in a proper manner; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors does hereby adopt a resolution in support of federal legislation which calls for the registration and placing of identification markings on all ultra light aircraft, and does hereby urge Congressman Gary A.
