RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve and authorize the Health Services Director to execute on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #23-074-13 , effective October 1, 1994, to amend Contract #23-074-12 with Weissburg and Aronson, Inc. (effective July 1, 1994 through June 30, 1995) to modify the Contract payment provisions and Service Plan. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: This Contract is funded by Enterprise I in the Health Services Department's FY 1994-95 Budget. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND: Since 1985, this Contractor has been providing legal services to the Health Services Department in the form of consultation, research, opinion, and advice with regard to Medi-Cal appeals and other fiscal matters. Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #23-074-13 will allow the Contractor to provide additional services required by the County in responding to the Legal Defense Fund litigation. County and Contractor agree therefore to amend the Contract as set forth below while all other parts of the Contract remain unchanged and in full force and effect. 1. Deletion of Contract Payment Limit. Paragraph 4 (Payment Limit) of the Contract Signature Page is hereby modified to read as follows: 114. Payment Limit. Contractor shall provide temporary legal services in the form of consultation, research, opinion, advice, and representation for the Health Services Director or his designee with regard to Medi-Cal audit appeals and other Departmental - fiscal, administrative, and litigation matters. County reserves the right to designate a particular staff ;member to handle any issue requiring specialized knowledge and experience.
