Since this is the sole access road to the ferry serving both Bradford and Webb Islands, whose property owners have always been assessed county taxes while receiving virtually no county services other than the road, such abandonment would be grossly inequitable. In the case of Bradford Farms, Inc. it has been extremely difficult to find farmers willing to sharecrop our property, even with the road as is, because of poor accessibility and irregularity and unreliability of ferry service. Because of these problems the landownerts share percentage of any crop is so low that the corporation shows no profit and its losses are made up by annual assessments on the stockholders, who also use the property for duck hunting, which is also subject to the access difficulties. Take away the county road and the situation becomes impossible. We probably couldntt give the property away. Bradford Farms, Inc. is only one of the property owners that would be adversely affected by such a decision. I have been directed to make the strongest possible protest against any aban- donment of .Jersey Island Road by the county. Very truly yours, CJc Bradford Farms, Inc. by Fred J. Beck, Secretary w
