SUBJECT: AUTHORIZATION TO EXECUTE 1994-95 LOW-INCOME RATEPAYER ASSISTANCE (LIRA)
CONTRACT WITH CALIFORNIA/NEVADA COMMUNITY ACTION ASSOCIATION
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I . RECOMMENDED ACTION
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Community Services Director or her
designee to execute the 1994-95 Low-Income Ratepayer Assistance
(LIRA) contract with the California/Nevada Community Action
Association for the period of November 1, 1994 , through April 30,
1995, in the amount of $2,904 (Contract Number 1-00024) .
II . FINANCIAL IMPACT
This amount will be added to the department's 1994-95 budget via
Appropriation Adjustment. No County funds are involved with. this
request.
III . CONSEQUENCES -OF NEGATIVE ACTION
A.decision not to approve this contract would result in the loss of
needed funds for the County's 1994-95 weatherization program.
IV. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDED ACTION
This contract provides $2,904 in reimbursable funds to identify and
counsel approximately 177 county residents who have been deemed
eligible to receive rate discounts and weatherization services
offered by California utility companies for the period of November
1, 1994, through April 30, 1995 .
This contract will be reviewed and approved by County Counsel as to
form prior to issuance.
