IN THE MATTER OF RESOLUTION NO. 94/558
Honoring sad Congratulstiag Pest, Present
sad future Members of the Morgan Territory
4-H Club on the Ooassioa of their 50th Anniversary
WHEREAS, California 4-H Clubs, under the auspices of the California Regents and
County Cooperative Extension, have been in existence in California since 1924 when Knightsen, in
Contra Costa County, was the first 4-H Club chartered in California. Twenty years later, the
Morgan Territory 4-H Club received its charter on July 1, 1944;
WHEREAS, in the early 1940'x, throughout the Morgan Territory area, many families were
involved in farming and ranching. Through the efforts of parents, neighbors, friends and the
Cooperative Extension, the 4-H Club began and taught young people the care, feeding and breeding
of animals and household pets, raising crops, foods and nutrition, food preservation, cooking,
sewing, clothing, crafts, woodworking, electricity, camping and community services;
WHEREAS, during the past SO years, second and third generations of those early 4-H'ers
have become Morgan Territory members, thus upholding the 4H motto: "To make the best better."
As the skills, technologies and projects have been refined and advanced, so has the knowledge,
experience and leadership of its members;
WHEREAS, on July 1, 1994, the Morgan Territory 4-H Club celebrated its 50th
anniversary.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa
County hereby honors and congratulates past, present and future members of the Morgan Territory
4-H Club on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of their charter and recognizes the commitment
of the 4-H volunteers, the dedication of its members, and the sacrifices of the parents to enhance
the skills, personal growth and family commitment of our young people.
PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on this 8th Day of November,
1994.
