DIRECT the Director of Community Development to file a Notice of Exemption with the County Clerk. DIRECT the Public Works Director to arrange for payment of the $25.00 handling fee to the County Clerk for filing of the Notice of Exemption. II. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: The project includes the rehabilitation of the Byron Highway Bridge across the California Aqueduct including the repair of the bridge decking, replacement of bridge railings, approach guard railings and seismic retrofit. This is needed to extend the useful life of the existing bridge structure and improve its performance in a seismic event. The project has been determined to be in compliance with the General Plan and is exempt from CEQA because it consists of minor alterations of existing public facilities involving no expansion of use per Section 15301 of the CEQA Guidelines. IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Delay in approving the project will result in a delay of design and construction and may jeopardize funding.
