SUPERVISORS AND COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR BY DEPUTY I I I .O.-4 -2- BACKGROUND: On October 25, 1993, our Committee met with Wanda Harris and Sharon Barone, representatives from the Women' s Advisory Committee and their staff person, Barbara Jensen. Ms. Harris asked that the Advisory Committee be expanded from 20 to 25 members so that additional women could become involved in the work of the Committee. We are, therefore, recommending that the Committee be expanded from 20 to 25 members, with the five additional seats designated as at-large seats . Three applications were received for appointment consideration for the three existing vacant at-large seats . The Committee has advertised for these vacancies and has interviewed all three applicants . The above appointments are recommended by the Women' s Advisory Committee. Our Committee has reviewed the applications and agree that they should make outstanding additions to the Women' s Advisory Committee. We have three At-Large Category vacancies and are anxious to have them filled as soon as possible. Notices of the vacancies have been sent to local newspapers, women's organizations and the Women's Advisory Committee interested party mailing list. Our Membership Review Committee conducted interviews with the applicants. The work of the committee, activities undertaken and issues targeted by the committee, and membership attendance requirements were explained to the applicants. All of the applicants are very interested in serving on the committee and have indicated they have the time available to attend meetings and participate in committee activities and events. All of the applicants are residents of Contra Costa County.
