Supervisor McPeak announced that she would be vacating her appointments to several of the regional commissions, and the matter of appointing Board Members to fill these vacancies was before the Board this day. The Board Members discussed the matter in some detail and agreed to the following: Supervisor Jeff Smith be appointed to fill the unexpired term ending January, 1995, of Supervisor McPeak on the Bay Area Air Quality Management District. Supervisor Powers be appointed to the Water Policy Consensus Committee to replace Supervisor McPeak. Supervisor Bishop be appointed to fill the unexpired term ending February 19 1994 of Supervisor McPeak on the Contra Costa Transportation Authority, with Supervisor Powers serving as alternate. Supervisor Bishop be appointed to replace Supervisor McPeak on the Contra Costa Child Care Task Force. The appointment is effective November 1, 1993 . Supervisor McPeak will resign from the Board of Supervisors effective March 31, 1994 . As is true in all general law counties in California, it will be up to the Governor to make an appointment to fill out the balance of Supervisor McPeak's term, which runs until January 2, 1995 . Anyone interested in continuing to serve on the Board of Supervisors thereafter will also have to run for the office next June. Supervisor McPeak is in her fourth term on the Board of Supervisors, having originally been elected in 1978 and reelected in 1982, 1986 and 1990. The Bay Area Economic Forum is a joint venture of the Bay Area Council and the Association of Bay Area Governments. Its purpose is to work with business and government to improve the economy in the Bay Area. The Bay Area Council is a prestigious group of top business executives from throughout the Bay Area.
