Dear Supervisor Torlakson:
On behalf of the Boards of Directors of our respective hospital districts, we reiterate our serious
commitment to proceed immediately with discussions regarding alternatives to the proposed
county hospital replacement.
Viable alternatives have been proposed by our various Boards, as well as by your own Board,
which would impact the decision to build the replacement facility. These options represent
millions of dollars in savings to the taxpayer. They also address the issue of ensuring local
access to hospital care.
These important issues need open discussion between the three district hospitals and the County
Board of Supervisors. We believe this dialogue is vital in helping solve the health care problems
facing Contra Costa County.
Until these critical discussions have been held and these options considered, we urge you to table
further action regarding construction of the new county hospital. We look forward to meeting
with the Board of Supervisors in the future on this issue.
Most sincerely,
