County DATE: October 18, 1993 ('�>� SUBJECT: REQUEST to EXECUTE two contracts pursuant to RFP #1034, for Therapeutic Counseling Services and AMEND two existing contracts. SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDED ACTIONS: I. APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Director of Social Service or designee to EXECUTE two contracts for the provision of Therapeutic Counseling Services pursuant to RFP # 1034 as directed by the Board of Supervisors June 22, 1993 action. The contract period to be eight months (November 1, 1993 through June 30, 1994) for the total available funds of $36,667. The two contracts to be awarded are as follows: Acrency Service Area Amount Family Stress Center East/Central County $20, 677 W. Coast Children's West County $16, 000 Center II. APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Director of Social Service or designee to AMEND two existing contracts to increase their amounts commensurate with the federal/state funds. The two contracts to be amended are as follows: &gency/Contract Services Increase Contra Costa Child Child Care Resource $13 ,730 Care Counsel & Referral #20-387-20 Family Stress, Inc. The federal/state revenue will be $31, 167 (85$ of $36, 667) to be allocated proportionately to the second two contracts for the remainder of the fiscal year as shown above. BACKGROUND: The Board of Supervisors action on June 22, 1993 funded eight contracts with 93-94 Child Care Affordability Trust Fund revenues and identified two of those contracts which were to be extended for four months only. The therapeutic counseling services they provided were to be included in an RFP and as a result of that process two new contracts were to be awarded for the remaining eight months. As the result of the RFP process the cost of these contracted services would qualify for inclusion in the Administrative Expense Claim. Also, it was the intent of the Board to augment two other contracts (Family Stress Center contract #20-665-8 and Contra Costa Child Care Council contract #20-387-20) commensurate with the ,federal/state funding gained.
