HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 10121993 - 1.12 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Declaring October 16-17, ) 1993 as CHINESE CULTURAL ) RESOL UTION NO. 9316 0 0 AWARENESS DAYS in Contra Costa ) County ) WHEREAS, the Diablo Valley Chinese Cultural Association (DVCCA) was founded in 1973 to garner awareness of the great cultural diversity in Contra Costa County; and WHEREAS, this year, the DVCCA is sponsoring the Chinese Cultural Festival on the weekend of October 16-17 at Ygnacio Valley High School; and WHEREAS, the Festival will offer demonstrations of acupuncture, calligraphy, martial arts, wok cooking, music, and dancing. It will be a good chance for citizens to experience and learn a bit of Chinese culture while touring the displays of art,furniture, and costumes and while dining on a variety of traditional Chinese cuisine; and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors has always been supportive of community activities that promote harmony and awareness between different cultures. The Chinese Cultural Festival is being held in this spirit, and we encourage all Contra Costa citizens to participate. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors declares October 16-17, 1993, as CHINESE CULTURAL AWARENESS DAYS in Contra Costa County.
