HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 10051993 - 1.25 IN TBE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA IN THE MATTER OF RESOLUTION NO. 9 3/5 9 4 Expressing Support for the Red Ribbon Campaign and Proclaiming October 23 -31, 1993, as RED RIBBON WEEK in Contra Costa County VAIEREAS, Governor Pete Wilson has declared the week of October 23-31, 1993, as Red Ribbon Week in the State of California, and communities are uniting their efforts to implement a drug abuse prevention campaign during this week; WIEEREAS, schools, businesses, churches, hospitals, service clubs, law enforcement, government agencies,and individuals in the State of California will demonstrate their commitment for a drug-free society by wearing and displaying red ribbons during this week-long campaign; VIFEBREAS,our community recognizes the successful coordination of this week's activities and events in celebration of drug-free lifestyles put forth by Delta 2000 and its volunteers and participating agencies; NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors expresses support for this unified drug abuse prevention campaign and declares October 23 -31, 1993, as RED RIBBON WEEK in Contra Costa County and encourages citizens to participate in the drug awareness activities,to make a visible statement that we are strongly committed to live a healthy lifestyle,and to pledge: 'My Choice...Drug Free!" BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board urges the cities and school districts of Contra Costa County to adopt a proclamation supporting this drug abuse prevention campaign and declaring October 23- 31, 1993, as Red Ribbon Week.
