HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 01261993 - X.5 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on January 26, 1993 by the following vote: AYES: See votes below NOES: ABSENT: ABSTAIN: --------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------- SUBJECT: Information Releases For Dougherty Valley Lawsuits At 5: 55 p.m. , the Board of Supervisors reconvened after closed session. Victor Westman, County Counsel, indicated that over the weekend the staff had become concerned with the public perception concerning the Dougherty Valley lawsuits. Therefore, the staff had prepared draft information releases for the Board' s consideration. It was moved and seconded to add the item on the agenda based on the fact that the matter arose after the agenda had been posted. The vote on the motion was as follows: AYES: Supervisors Powers, Bishop, McPeak and Torlakson NOES: None ABSTAIN: Supervisor Smith ABSENT: None It was then moved and seconded to accept the draft information releases as modified and to direct staff to place them in final form to be released at a later appropriate time. The vote on the motion was as follows: AYES: Supervisors Powers, McPeak and Torlakson NOES: Supervisor Bishop ABSTAIN: Supervisor Smith ABSENT: None Supervisor Bishop indicated that while she concurred with the concept of issuing an information release, she does not concur with the substance of the proposed releases. IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the draft information releases as modified are ACCEPTED; and staff is DIRECTED to place them in final form to be released at a later appropriate time. County Counsel Vic Westman indicated that over the weekend the staff had become concerned with the public perception concerning the Dougherty Valley lawsuits. Therefore, the staff had prepared draft information releases for the Board's consideration. It was then moved to add the item on the agenda, based on the fact that the matter arose after the agenda had been posted. This motion was seconded. The motion passed 4-0 I with District II abstaining. It was then moved to accept.the draft information releases as modified and to direct staff to place them in final form, to be released at a later appropriate time. This motion was seconded. The motion passed 3-1;1 with District II abstaining. Supervisor Bishop indicated that, while she concurred with the concept of issuing an information release, she does not concur with the substance of the proposed releases.
