Mr. Tam Torlakson, Chairman Contra Costa Board of Supervisors 651 Pine Martinez, CA 94553 Dear Tom, The Clayton City Council recently passed the attached resolution, calling on all levels of government to be more sensitive to the effects of legislation and regulation, particularly the fiscal impacts. While we are particularly concerned with the history of unfunded mandates from the Federal Government and the State of California, there may be limited occasions when the same problem could surface in the County-City relationship (the recent discussions of waste reduction strategies by the County may be one of those) . Overall, we're supportive of your efforts to open lines of communication, and I might add we are supportive of some way of stemming the mandate burden that the State in particular imposes on the counties, which we recognize is significantly greater in scope than the problems we face. r Good luck! We are available for discussions, issues or projects on which we might work together. Sincerely, Le William R. Walcutt :Mayor ti RESOLUTION 1-93 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CLAYTON THAT ALL FEDERAL, STATE, AND COUNTY MANDATED PROGRAMS BE FUNDED BY THE LEVEL OF GOVERNMENT CAUSING SUCH MANDATED PROGRAM.
