IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
IN THE MATTER OF RESOLUTION NO. 9 3/3 2
Honoring Barbara A. Price
Upon Her Retirement From
the Antioch City Council
WHEREAS,Barbara A. Price,was first elected to the Antioch City Council in 1984;
WHEREAS,,Barbara Price has been an outspoken advocate for human service issues,especially those
that affect the quality of life for families,women and children;
WHEREAS,Barbara has served as the Corporate Vice President/Treasurer for an industrial firm,the
store manager for a local Marine store,and as a paralegal for Battered Women's Alternative. She was the Past
President for the Delta Memorial Hospital Auxiliary,the Riverview Fire Protection District Reserve Firefight-
ers Association,the California Hospital Association, and the East Bay Area Council of Volunteers. She is a
member of the National Women's Political Caucus. She was instrumental in the creation of the Youth Ac-
tivities Committee and helped establish the Antioch Human Resource Building;
WHEREAS,while a member of the Antioch City Council,city services were expanded in the area of
police protection, park and street maintenance, social services and public art. During the past two council
terms,several major capital improvement and community projects were completed,including the new Police
Facility and Animal Shelter,the street renovation of Downtown Antioch,the Delta Business Park and the new
marina,just to name a few. In addition,the council reflected a strong focus on regional agency cooperation
and the promotion of economic development;
WHEREAS,while in office, Barbara Price worked diligently to oppose the placement of a landfill in
Antioch. This landfill application was eventually withdrawn;
WHEREAS,Barbara retired from the Antioch City Council in November, 1992,and will be honored
at a community event on January 22, 1993;
NOW,THERFORE,BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF SUPERVIOSRS OF CONTRA
COSTA COUNTY,CALIFORNIA,hereby honors Barbara A.Price upon her retirement from the Antioch
City Council andjoins the citizens of Antioch in expressing appreciation and commendation for her many years
of dedicated and committed service to the community.
PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board members present on this 19th Day of January, 1993.
