HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 01191993 - 1.7 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA IN THE MATTER OF RESOLUTION NO. 9 3/31 Honoring Frank L. Stone Upon His Retirement from the Antioch City Council WHEREAS,Frank L.Stone,an Antioch resident since 1946, has given unselfishly of his time, energy, and talent to improve the quality of life in his community; Frank served as an Antioch Councilman since 1984. He is a U.S.Navy Veteran, a former Fibreboard employee and retired from P.G.&E.in 1985. He is a former Antioch Planning Commissioner,a Board Member of the Delta Learning Center,the Contra Costa Health Coalition,the Tri-Delta Transit Board,the Contra Costa District Fair Board and the Contra Costa Literacy Alliance and was a member of the Antioch Chamber of Commerce; WHEREAS,while a member of the Antioch City Council, city services were expanded in the area of police protection,park and street maintenance,social services,and public art. During the past two council terms, several major capital improvement and community projectts were completed in- cluding the new Police Facility and Animal Shelter, the street renovation of Downtown Antioch, the Delta Business Park,and the new marina,just to name a few. In addition,the council reflected a strong focus on regional agency cooperation and the promotion of economic development; WHEREAS,Frank has placed high priority on the community's transportation needs and has worked tirelessly and provided strong leadership in the completion of the Hillcrest and Lone Tree projects. He joined with other East County officials in the battle to bring BART rail service to East County; Frank Stone retired from the Antioch City Council in November 1992 and will be honored at an community event on January 22, 1993; NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, hereby honors Frank L. Stone upon his retirement from the Antioch City Council and joins the citizens of Antioch in expressing appreciation and commendation for his many years of dedicated and committed service to the community. PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board members present on this 19th day of January, 1993. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of a resolution entered onto the min- utes of said Board of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
