Sunne Wright McPeak CLERK t"s—40 : SUPERVISORS
Supervisor, District 4 CW78A CGS1A----- 1L0.-
County of Contra Costa
651 Pine St. , 11th Floor

Dear Sunne,
I 'm writing to urge your support for the concept of jobs-housing
balance. When workers can't afford to live near an employment
center, the effect is to mass produce traffic congestion.
I know Contra Costa County has been on the frontier with respect
to this question and that you, Sunne, are among our state' s
leaders for more environmentally sound jobs-housing balance. So
this letter is in no sense a complaint, but rather encouragement
and support.
The frame-breaking new concepts California will need to provide
for the housing and job needs of a coming generation should be
made at the city and county level . The State could not do it as
well, but would doubtless be forced to try if cities and counties
can't make it work.
It' s my hope that the quality thinking and bold leadership we've
seen on the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors in recent
years will lead local government regionwide to concentrate new
urgency on the question of jobs-housing balance. I will be glad
to help in any way you feel might be constructive.
Sincerely
K9 al
