Spooner, Contracts Administrator Costa DATE: February 1, 1993 County SUBJECT: Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #23-063-7 with HHI, Financia]. Services, Inc. SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve and authorize the Chair, Board of Supervisors, to execute on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #23-063-7 to reform Standard Contract #23-063-5 with HHL Financial Services, Inc. to remedy the mutual mistake of the County and Contractor and to accurately reflect the intent of the parties. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The Contractor is paid on a commission basis only for amounts it collects on inpatient and outpatient Medi-Cal claims, and approval of this Contract Amendment Agreement will allow payment to the Contractor for revenue remitted to the County during the interval between expiration of Standard Contract #23-063-4 and the effective date of Standard Contract #23-063-5. III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONSZBACRGROUND: Since. 3.984 the Department has contracted with HHL Financial Services, Inc. (Hayt, Hayt, & Landau) to provide financial consulting services with regard to Medi-Cal eligibility, claims, and administrative appeals. On May 8, 1990, the Board of Supervisors approved Standard Contract #23-063-4, with HHL for the period from April 3, 1990 through April 2, 1991. Standard Contract #23-063-5, was approved by the Board of Supervisors for the period from May 1, 1992 through December 31, 1992 . Due to the mutual mistake of the parties, this Contract did not accurately reflect the intent of the parties which was that HHL continue providing services under Standard Contract #23-063-5, effective April 3, 1992, with no break in service. Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #23-063-7 will reform Standard Contract #23-063-5 to change the effective date to April 3, 1992 and to provide for payment to the Contractor for services which it provided to the County during the period from April 3, 1992 through April 30, 1992.
