Dear Mr. Torlakson:
The construction of the California-Oregon Transmission Project (COTP) , which
began in October 1990, is nearing completion. The Project included upgrading
an existing double-circuit 230-kV line to 500-kV from Cottonwood to the
Sacramento River near Rio Vista and construction of a new 500-kV line from the
Sacramento River to Tracy.
This letter is to inform you that Western Area Power Administration will
energize the line in mid-February, 1993. Once the line is placed into
service, we ask that you exercise caution in working around the transmission
line. Some items to be noted are:
1. Irrigation with aluminum pipes. Do not let the pipes come within
17 feet of the conductors (wires) .
2. Use of farm equipment. A clearance of 17 feet is to be maintained
from the conductors.
3. Awareness of tower locations to prevent damage to towers.
If your property is managed or leased by someone else, we will appreciate your
advising them of this information.
Thank you for your cooperation during this project. If you have any questions
regarding activities around the transmission line, please contact me at
(916) 649-4420.
Sincerely,
Jose P. Vigil
