MICHAEL WALFORD, CHIEF ENGINEER DATE: December 7, 1993 SUBJECT: Approval of Contract Change Order No. 6 for the West Antioch Creek Project, Antioch area, Project No. 7579-6D8538-91 specific Request(s)or Fk=mnwxxLa m(s)&Background&Justification I. Recommended Action: APPROVE Contract Change Order No. 6, in the approximate amount of $33,000.00 and AUTHORIZE the Chief Engineer to execute it in order to compensate the contractor, Hess Construction, for additional excavation and off-hauling material. II. Financial Impact: The project contingency funds are sufficient to cover the change order costs. The source of funds is Drainage Area 55. III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: The total of contract change orders 1 through 6 exceeds $25,000.00, requiring Board approval. Site conditions required additional material to be removed in excess of contract amounts, and other materials to be off-hauled during winter shut down. IV. Consequences of Negative Action: The lack of approval would preclude payment for work required.
