Dear Mr. Torlakson:
I have received your letter concerning the decision of the San Francisco Regional
Poison Control Center to deny services to counties who do not pay a service fee. I
agree that we should actively pursue State funding for California Poison Control
Centers. Although Alameda County will be able to fund our share of the costs for
the San Francisco Bay Area Regional Poison Control Center this year, we do not
know if we will be able to do so in the future.
Our Health Care Services Agency Director is submitting recommendations to our.
Board of Supervisors,Personnel,..Administrative, and Legislative (PAL) Committee to
supportaegislat on to.establish"arid fund a State program of regional poison services
that will provide access to all California counfies.
I will keep you apprised of progress we make.
Very my yours,
EDWARD CAMPBEL'
