I. RECOMMENDATIONS:
ACCEPT the attached report entitled "Housing Authority of the
County of Contra Costa: Winter Relief Program Update. "
II. BACKGROUND/ REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Winter Relief Program began over a month ago. This report
was compiled to keep the Board apprised of the program's
. activities.

WINTER RELIEF PROGRAM UPDATE
December 20, 1993
> The 1993-94 Winter Relief Program began on November 17,
1993, with the reopening of the central county shelter
on Arnold Industrial Way.
> The Winter Relief Program is at full capacity with 60 beds
occupied.
> Thanksgiving dinner was served at the central county
emergency shelter by members of the Board of Supervisors
and at the west county shelter by members of the Shelter,
Inc. Board.
> Members of the Board of Supervisors, churches, and other
non-profit organizations are soliciting funds for the
Winter Relief Program.
> The Housing Authority has solicited funds to support the
operation of the Winter Relief Program from the cities.
> To date, the Housing Authority has received over $9,000 in
donations to support the operation of the Winter Relief
Program.
> Shelter, Inc. will be serving dinner on Christmas Eve at
both the central and west county emergency shelters and
they extend an invitation to the Board of Supervisors to
participate. The Arnold Industrial Way shelter in North
Concord and the Brookside shelter in North Richmond will
both serve dinner on December 24 at 6:00 p.m. If you
would like to help at either location, please call Lisa
Stein at Shelter, Inc. , 827-3598 x 101.
