HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 12141993 - S.4 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Honoring the ) CONCORD CONVENTION AND VISITORS ) RESOLUTION NO. 9317 2 3 BUREAU on the Occasion of Its 10th ) Anniversary ) WHEREAS, the Concord Convention and Visitors Bureau (CCVB) was incorporated on December 8, 1993, as a private, non-profit mutual benefit corporation that is recognized as Concord and Contra Costa County's official visitor promotion organization; and WHEREAS, the CCVB's primary objective is to enhance the local economy through the marketing,promotion, selling, and services of the city and county as a site for conventions; and WHEREAS, the Bureau stimulates economic development in the area by creating and supporting jobs, generating new money being spent on the purchase of goods and services, and generating transient occupancy and sales tax revenues, and WHEREAS, convention solicitation is at the core of all the CCVB's marketing activities. Ultimately, the CCVB's mission is to combine well planned and well executed convention solicitation, image enhancement, and destination development to produce an effective promotional package--thereby filling hotel rooms to stimulate economic development in the community; and WHEREAS, while the CCVB functions with a professional staff, its real marketing effectiveness depends on a close working relationship with Bureau members and the community. The Bureau is the community's liaison between visitors and the firms which host and serve them during their stay; and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors is grateful to the CCVB for their efforts on behalf of Contra Costa County. The community has benefitted tremendously from the success the CCVB has enjoyed in the past 10 years, and we look forward to our continuing partnership to stimulate economic growth in the county. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors honors the CONCORD CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU on the occasion of its 10th anniversary.
