Adopted this Order on_November 17, 1992 by the following vote:

ABSTAIN: None
SUBJECT: Security at County Hospital
Following a presentation by Mark Finucane, Health Services Director, on security issues at the
County Hospital, the Board concurred on the need to take action this day.
Therefore, IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the Health Services Director is DIRECTED to
provide for security and personnel in the mental health wards at the Hospital this week.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the issue of security at the County Hospital is REFERRED to the
Finance Committee for consideration at its meeting on November 23, 1992.

psychiatric units and demand that twenty-four hour PSO coverage be reinstated to J
Ward and the Emergency Room effective immediately. Due to the repeated violent
acts of our patients, we feel that the safety of all the staff, patients, and visitors must
be protected!! A safe environment must be provided to all while research into other
security measures is being conducted.
This added PSO coverage must not compromise present levels of line-staff and
