SURPLUS COUNTY EQUIPMENT AND FURNITURE `
SUBJECT:
SPECIFIC REOUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECO14MENDATION
Authorize the General Services Director (the Purchasing Agent)
pursuant to Government Code Sections. 26227 and 25504,to make
available to community non-profit organizations, school districts
and other local public entities , office furniture and equipment no
longer needed by the County.
BACKGROUND:
The General Services Department is using the vacant Pride House
Facility, 1330 Glacier Dr, Martinez to store office furniture and
equipment no longer needed by Social Services, Probation and
District Attorney-Family Support. The furniture and equipment is
no longer needed primarily due to the termination of leases and
consolidation of offices.
The General Services Department has notified all County departments
of the availability of this equipment and furniture. However it is
necessary that any remaining equipment and furniture be removed by
the end of this month so that remodeling of the space to house an
expanded County Recycling Program can begin.
Although the equipment and furniture may not be needed by County
departments and has little salvage value, it may be useful to
community non-profit organizations, school districts and other
local public entities who operate various programs that serve
public purposes. Any reduction in the amount of surplus equipment
will reduce the transportation salvage costs the County will incur.

obtain equipment and furniture they could not otherwise afford.
