Robert Summers has always been available to support and assist with
community concerns and charitable causes. He has been instrumental
in involving Chevron USA in the progress of the larger Contra Costa
community and ensuring it is one of our outstanding corporate
citizens.
He has invested hours of his personal, as well . as professional,
time in supporting and promoting the Regional Center for the Arts
and therefore is being honored on November 2, 1992, for his
tremendous contributions.
Bob has been an outspoken advocate for investing in the youth of
our county, arranging for recognition events, summer employment,
and educational/recreational experiences for youth.
He and his sister, Beverly, have always been willing to help
others, even after enduring the personal tragedy of losing their
family home and heirlooms in the Oakland Hills fire.
Bob Summers has often spent his birthday, August 3, working on
behalf of others.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that November 2, 1992 is declared
ROBERT SUMMERS DAY in Contra Costa County by Chairwoman Supervisor
Sunne McPeak and that August 3, 1993 , will also be declared Robert
Summers Day in Contra Costa County by the Board of Supervisors.
FURTHER, BE IT RESOLVED that we wish Robert Summers much success in
his future endeavors as he retires from Chevron Companies after 34
years of dedicated service.
