SUBJECT: Agreement For Local Radio Broadcast of Emergency Information
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
Recommendation
Authorize County Emergency Services Director to sign agreement
between the County and radio stations K-KIS AM990 and 92 KISS FM
(Diamond Broadcasting) under the terms of which these local
radio stations. when requested by the County, will immediately
broadcast information on emergencies requiring notification of
the. public.
Background
This agreement is one part of an over-all public emergency
notification system being developed by the County Office of
Emergency Services. The agreement assures that local radio
stations K-KIS AM990 and 92 KISS FM will broadcast emergency
information as requested by the County. The broadcasting of ,
such infomation will usually be to inform the public of the
nature of the emergency and to provide them with instructions on
precautionary measures, as appropriate.. This agreement
formalizes the provision of emergency broadcast services which
these radio stations have willingly provided for some time.
