HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 01211992 - S.3 TO: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS �J',3 Contra FROM: Costa Supervisor Tom Torlakson DATE: January 21, 1992 County SUBJECT: .REFER TO THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT THE ISSUE OF DESIGNATING THE OAKLEY WOMAN'S CLUB BUILDING AS A HISTORICAL- SITE SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDED ACTION: Request the Community Development Department to work with representatives of the Oakley Woman's Club to investigate the possibility of designating their meeting building, located at 2nd and Acme Streets in Oakley, as a historical building. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Oakley Woman' s Club has a strong and rich tradition, and has played a very important role in the history of the Oakley community. The Oakley Woman's Club first inhabited this building in 1916, when it was purchased from the Congregational Church. Not only is the building one of the oldest in the Oakley community but through the Oakley Woman's Club it has been the center of services for Oakley that have been significant to the history and development of the community.
