MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: January 21, 1992 SUBJECT: ADULT SCHOOL CROSSING GUARDS (0360-2310) SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. Recommended Action: Authorize the Public Works Director to sign Crossing Guard Agreement for Fiscal Year 1991-92 with the Richmond Unified School District. II. Financial Impact: Estimated Fiscal Year 1991-92 cost of$18,102.00 will be funded from the General Fund Budget for crossing guards. III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: The Board of Supervisors adopted a policy for providing School Crossing Protection on April 3, 1979, and the Board amended its policy on May 7, 1987. Pursuant to this policy, a crossing guard is warranted on Arlington Avenue at Rincon Road in Kensington and on San Pablo Dam Road at May Road in the Richmond area. These two Crossing Guards have been operating for several years and have been financed by the County. IV.
