FROM: J. MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR
DATE: January 7, 1992
SUBJECT: Approval of Contract Change Order No. 6 for the Willow Pass Road Widening Project
in the West Pittsburg area, Project No. 0662-6134134-86
i
Specific Request(s)or Rocommendation(s)'&Background&Justification
I. Recommended Action:
APPROVE Contract Change Order No. 6 in the approximate amount of $9,000.00 and
AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director to execute it in order to compensate the contractor, Hess
Construction, for the installation of detector loops.
II. Financial Impact:
The project contingency funds are sufficient to cover the change order costs. The source of
funds is the West Pittsburg Area of Benefit.
III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background:
;j
The cumulative total of Contract Change Orders Nos. 1 through 6 exceeds $25,000.00, requiring
Board approval. Design additions and increased complexity of the project required additional
pipe relocations, roadside fencing, and traffic signal modifications.
IV. Consequences of Negative Action:
The lack of approval would preclude payment for work required.
