MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: January 7, 1992 SUBJECT: Approval of Project Contingency Fund increase of $17,000.00 and Contract Change Order No. 4 for the Pleasant Hill Road Median Barrier Project, Project No. 0662-6R2548-90 Specific Request(s) or Recommendation(s)+&Background&Justification I. Recommended Action: APPROVE Project Contingency Fund increase of $17,000.00 and Contract Change Order No. 4, in the approximate amount of$11,000.00 and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director to execute it in order to compensate the contractor, Bay Cities Paving & Grading, Inc., for traffic striping changes. II. Financial Impact: The project contingency funds are currently insufficient to cover these change order costs. The; increase in contingency,)funds will be funded by the Federal Hazard and Safety Program (78%) and local road funds (22%). III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: Additional striping is necessary in lanes adjacent to newly constructed concrete median barrier. Board approval is required because this item of work will exceed the amount remaining in the contingency fund. IV. Consequences of Negative Action: The lack of approval would preclude payment to the contractor for work required to complete this project. Continued on attachment: _yes!
