HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 09081992 - 1.74 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA n Adopted this Order on September 8, 1992 by the following vote: 7� AYES: Supervisors Powers, Fanden, Schroder, Torlakson, McPeak NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None In the Matter of Correcting ) Management Compensation ) Resolution No. 92/107 and ) Resolution No. 92/ 580 Adjusting Salary for ) Staff Nurse - Per Diem ) Whereas, the Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution 92/107 on March 3, 1992 which established compensation and benefit levels for management, elected and unrepresented employees for the period October 1, 1991 through September 30, 1993; and, Whereas, the County Administrator has recommended that correction of certain errors and omissions in Resolution 92/107 be authorized to insure correct compensation of affected employees; and Whereas, agreement was reached June 1, 1992 between the County and the California Nurses Association regarding salary adjustments for the period January 1, 1992 through December 31, 1993 which necessitates similar adjustment to the related unrepresented class of Staff Nurse - Per Diem; NOW THEREFORE: The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors in its capacity as governing board of the County of Contra Costa and all Districts of which it is the ex officio governing board, RESOLVES THAT: 1. Effective January 1, 1992, the class of Staff Nurse - Per Diem (VWXB) shall be allocated to the basic salary schedule at level C1 2130. Effective July 1, 1992 the class shall be allocated to level C1 2160. Effective January 1, 1993, the class shall be allocated to level C1 2199. In lieu of retroactive pay requiring special payroll recomputation and processing back to January 1, 1992 the County will make a lump sum payment to each employee for the intervening months computed as follows: Employee regular pay, overtime pay and specific other earnings ordinarily computed as a percentage of base pay will be added together for each applicable pay period to determine the appropriate pay base. For the months of January-June 1992, this base will be multiplied by 5%; for the months July-August 1992, the base will be multiplied by 8% and combined to arrive at the employee's total lump sum payment. The payment amount thus computed will be added to the employee's October 10, 1992 paycheck where it will be listed separately as a "Lump Sum Payment" and will be subject to normal tax withholding and retirement deduction requirements. Any employee believing there is an underpayment resulting from this methodology exceeding $30 may contact the Personnel Department. The Personnel Department and the Auditor's Office will investigate and issue the additional pay, if owed, as soon as possible. 2. Section I.D (October 1, 1992 Special Equity Adjustments) of Resolution 92/107 is amended to delete the 20 level increase on October 1, 1992 previously authorized in error for the class of Risk Manager (AJD1) . 3. Effective September 1, 1992 salary levels for the classes of Supervising Weights and Measures Inspector (BWHA) and Deputy Agricultural Commissioner (BAHA) shall be corrected to level C5 1949 and Section 3.D of Resolution 92/107 shall be amended to read: "Effective September 1, 1992 salary levels for the classes of Supervising Weights and Measures Inspector (BWHA) and Deputy Agricultural Commissioner (BAHA) shall be eligible for a differential equivalent to 2.5%of monthly base pay for possession of a valid Commissioner License or a valid Sealer of Weights and Measures License respectively".
