MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: September 8, 1992 SUBJECT: Approve Contract and Authorize Issuance of a Purchase Order to Crank's Pipeline for Dry Creek Channel Desilting, Brentwood Project No.: 7521-6D9198 (Funding 100% FCZ 1 Funds) 0 SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) &BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. Recommended Action: APPROVE the contract and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Manager to issue a purchase order in the amount of $10,500 to Crank's Pipeline of Pinole, California for Dry Creek Channel desilting in Brentwood. II. Financial Impact: Flood Control Zone 1 funds in the amount of $10,500 are available for this planned activity. Ill. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: The Contra Costa County Flood Control and Water Conservation District is responsible for the maintenance of Dry Creek Channel. It is not economically feasible to own and operate the necessary equipment and designate a special work force sblely to accomplish this extensive desilting project. The District solicited bids for completing the desilting work from the following contractors: Crank's Pipeline, Hordyk and Associates, A. Periera Enterprises, Merit Engineering, Coastal Construction Co., Inc. and William G. McCullough Company. bids were receive from all solicited contractors, with the low bid made by Crank's Pipeline. Consequences of Negative Action: This facility is in need of desilting in order for it to function as it was designed.
