MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: September 8, 1992 SUBJECT: Authorize Issuance of Purchase Order to Traffic Limited for Traffic Striping as Necessary During the 1992-93 Fiscal Year Project No.: 0672-6U2568 SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. Recommended Action: AUTHORIZE the issuance of a purchase order in an amount not to exceed $43,270 to Traffic Limited of Lodi, California for traffic striping as necessary during the 1992-93 fiscal year. II. Financial Impact: Road funds in the amount of $43,270 are available for this planned activity. III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: It is the practice of the Public Works Department to maintain warranted traffic delineation of all times and to replace traffic striping obscured by natural or manmade activities within ten working days. Vendor furnished traffic striping is often required when the Department's traffic striping capability is reduced due to equipment breakdown or when the required amount of striping exceeds the Department's production capacity during the annual pavement surface treatment program. A blanket purchase order has historically been established as a contingency to furnish traffic striping on an as needed basis. The subject authorization will continue this practice.
