MICHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: DECEMBER 8, 1992 SUBJECT: STATE HIGHWAY 4/13AILEY ROAD INTERCHANGE - WEST PITTSBURG AREA Project No.: 4660-6X4158 Task: ACID Account: 2260 SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) &BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. Recommended Action: AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director to EXECUTE on behalf of the County, a Rental Agreement with Steven & Susan St. Germain for the premises at 531 & 531 "B" So. Broadway, W. Pittsburg. AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or his designee, to arrange for the payment of rent as specified in the rental agreement. II. Financial Impact: Payments required are to come from the State Highway 4/Bailey Road Interchange project fund which is 100% reimbursable from the Contra Costa Transportation Authority. III. Reasons for Recommendations and Background: A. The County intends to acquire the land and improvements located at 531 & 531 "B" So. Broadway, for use as rights of way for the State Highway 4/Bailey Road Interchange project as soon as possible. B. The County has made an offer to purchase the aforementioned property. In doing so, the tenants of the dwelling become eligible for relocation assistance and may move to a replacement dwelling at any time. C. The owner is in agreement with the County's objectives of having the tenants relocated, the unit remaining vacant, the County paying rent on the unit as it becomes vacant, and securing the premises against vandalism, trespassers, or other unauthorized occupants. IV. Consequences of Negative Action: The County could be liable for additional relocation expenses.
